Ayr is a town in Queensland's far north. It is located approximately 90 kilometres south of Townsville and 1270 kilometres from the state capital Brisbane. Ayr has an Australian postcode of 4807 and a population of approximately 8600 residents according to the 2006 Australian Census.

Ayr is part of the Burdekin Shire an area noted for producing the largest amount of Sugar Cane in Australia.
